I hope as we are approaching a possible big chase event later this coming week and next weekend across the plains we all can practice common curtesy to one another on the road, no tripods in the middle of the road, which I have seen in the past and be sure to park completely off the road and keep the drivers doors closed when parked off the side of the road. This will go along way to make the upcoming chase safe for everyone. If possible find a road to pull of on as some LEO's are giving out tickets for just pulling off on the side of the road.

Good point. I'm guessing this will be a classic "multiple" location chase set-up, with assorted opportunities depending on what kind of chasing you prefer, e.g., dryline, surface features, boundaries, better shear, RH, etc.

Quoting Joel Ewing, "The horses are in the gate," and I further Jim's point by suggesting slower traffic (usually local rubber-neckers) move over for those wanting to go the speed limit, or make sure you leave enough room between vehicles for those behind you to pass safely.

Ditto, on Jim's comments and suggestions. I get more amazed every year with some of the disrespectful things people are doing, such as what Jim mentioned. Especially the Traffic Control "Chaser" a couple of weeks ago that just stood in the middle of the road with his arms crossed near Bonham, TX to make everyone slow down and dodge all the others almost pulled off of the road taking pictures. These kind of actions are really unnecessary.
Please just be a little more respectful of others as we don't all want to stop in the same place or want to dodge you and your equipment.

The upcoming Memorial Day weekend also means there will be tons of traveling public out on the roads. LEO's will be out in force also. Motels will be full.

Approaching severe weather drives people out of their weekend camping spot, some in a panic.

Lets be careful out there...

The crappy part about it if it winds up in the sandhills, there really aren't many side road options to pull off on. I already plan on being highly annoyed. Should get a pool going on how many get stuck trying to use the "options" in the area.

Gotta love one lane, mostly sand options that can be covered with tumbleweed drifts. I encountered several on this one that were taller than my car.

One from another chase. I would not want to be on this near any sort of rain.

I think what you are mentioning is the guys that were filming Reed Timmer and his crew for the Discovery Channel series. They were slowing cars down just so they would not fly past us doing 80mph. Reed was nice enough to let us follow behind him for the chase. A lot of stuff goes on trying to film a show like that!

Discovery channel or not, that was still a pretty stupid thing to do.

If someone has to slow traffic down, maybe, just maybe, they shouldn't be filming from that location.

If im doing the SPEED LIMIT and your standing in the road.....I might just run over you and get a new camera. Id really realy like to know if the discovery channel crew keeps tabs of how fast these other chasers are goign when they tag along? You can always check the live trackers on some of these chaser sites and you can see the speeds some of the guys are chasing around doing 80-90mph. Is the speed limit in Texas 90? maybe it is in Oklahoma.
Arrested chasers....speeding chasers....road block chasers.....let the regulations begin MARCH 2010.

I won't run any person down, but I won't hesitate to take out a tripod in the road. I can't tell you how many times I've nearly mowed those down. Are some people really that afraid of getting chiggers that they can't set up off the pavement, or at least in front of their vehicle if they have to be on the pavement.

I won't even mention the name of a VERY WELL KNOWN chaser that just flat flipped me off the other day when I waved at them. I guess the tv camera guys with them thought it was amusing, I don't know.

There is a phrase down here in Texas, "drive friendly". You will notice most everyone out on the country roads will wave at you when passing the other way. It's just a courtesy down here. I have waved at numerous chasers and a few wave back, many just stare at you like you have 3 heads or something.

Yep, you would think that a chaser of this caliber would have a little more respect and professionalism than what was shown to David. Certainly makes me have a lot less respect for this "well known chaser".

Its obvious being on tv alot this past year has gone to his head. Next time David get a good picture of it to post on here so we can all laugh at him. Even better..get some live streaming of it...along with all the other stupid stuff they do....lol

Just because he is on tv doesn NOT make him a chaser of good "caliber". That takes success and time like guys like Edwards and Doswell. Just cause your good at selling yourself doesnt mean you know squat about chasing successfully.

That's true...I guess I used that word for lack of a better one.
