Today there was a X9.3 flare. There is a current G3 watch (strong geomagnetic storm) for 9-7 to 9-9. Aurora expected as far south as Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. Details at http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/news/g3-watch-7-through-9-september-2017-due-cme-effects

Northern Lights Aurora is in progress over New England as of 8:30 pm Central (9:30 their time) Thursday evening. Looks like good odds for Canada and a decent shot northern third of US that is not cloudy. Updated space weather forecast is good Friday night and Saturday night also.

I saw some OK aurora pics across the east-central down to pretty low latitude. Then some really good shots from the Canadian border.
