Asperatus clouds?

Nice shots Karla. Guess what? We must have been shooting the same clouds. You in Burleson and me in Benbrook (southwest Tarrant County, TX for non DFW'ers). I think this answers Mike's question about location.

Regarding Mammatus, after this happened, I flipped on the news and one of the weather guys was talking about strange clouds spotted in Benbrook that he said were Mammatus... but these were definitely not the usual "cotton balls".

Thanks for all the great info everybody... and pictures! What I saw was exactly like those Iowa shots that rdale linked to.

Yep, too early and too far away to be related.

Here's what I saw, no where near as impressive as yours.

*I* hadn't seen anything like that, either - it was absolutely amazing. EVERYONE was outside, looking at them ... really beautiful, really unusual.

Everyone was outside? Cool. Here, everybody was inside missing them! Watching commercials on TV perhaps.

Here are a couple more.

Old thread, but new capture for me:

The panorama doesn't really give the feel when we were there. I have more photos, just processing them now.
