I am curious as to how many females there are out in the storm chasing/spotting community. I have been interested in severe weather for MANY years, but I haven't came across many other females that share my interests.

There are lots of women chasers and spotters, although the demographics of the chase community are fairly narrow as the community is overwhelmingly white males. If I had to guess, I'd say the percentage of women that comprises the "actively chasing" chase community is somewhere between and 10 and 20%. It's probably similar in makeup to other very technical or science oriented groups like ham radio operators, mechanics, engineers, or IT technicians. Basically, we're a bunch of stereotypical nerds.

My girlfriend drives for me when we chase. I'm also teaching her about chasing as we go. Maybe she will get to the point of being able to chase by herself.

There are lots of female chasers, those are the girlfriends of the guys who make them come along on 'vacation'. God bless 'em.

My wife and I had a five day storm chase vacation for our honeymoon and have enjoyed a few anniversary chases since then. She doesn't chase, but enjoys going with me. I'll never forget the day during our honeymoon when she conducted her first core punch! Head leaning forward, she looked like a goose behind the steering wheel :)

My wife serves as ground support when we have no data, and need an update. She's pretty well versed at radar, but doesn't care to learn all about meteorology.
