Anyone try the sidekick 2 yet?

I am thinking about getting a sidekick 2 for storm chasing since it has mobile internet Access and you can go to regular sites. But one thing I don't understand is do I need a phone contract for the internet too?

Yes because it is activated by T-mobile. I once had the first sidekick and had a one year contract with some cell minutes but used the internet only because I have Nextel as my main provider.
