Andy Gabrielson killed in traffic accident

My high school Atmospheric Science classes have been with Andy during some of his live streaming chases, and visited his webpage often. Just like many other storm chasers, Andy was resource for science education. Now I have to break the news to my classes. This is so sad. RIP Andy and God bless to his family.

I've decided to buy a findthetornado shirt today and wear this while out chasing in 2012 in his memory, maybe we can get some people doing that?

Yes, to support his family I have purchased some merchandise.

Funny story, I remember how my chase partner and I would always think we're on the right storm when Andy's SN blip popped up on our storm. We reffered to him as a tornado magnet.

This is going to take a while to set in for me. I met Andy not long after he started chasing and I chased with him a couple times in 2009. The last couple years I ran in to him a few times out in the field and he was always willing to shoot the breeze with you. He never had an ego and never thought he was too good for anyone and was always willing to help out with whatever you needed. I was actually planning on joining him and findthetornado.com for the 2012 season. He was an awesome friend, person, and chaser, and he will be greatly missed. It's tough to think that I will never get a call or text from him again or run in to him out in the field ever again. RIP buddy, you will be missed.

How awful. I always loved to see Andy's video and reports, esp the ones from the upper Midwest. He was a very good guy. Sending my thoughts and prayers to both his blood family and his worldwide family.

And Josh I like the idea of buying the FindtheTornado shirts....I'm game....

Posting my condolences, this story was on CNN's homepage last night.

The GPS idea is touching.

This is some truly sad news. I'll keep him and his family in my thoughts and prayers in the upcoming days.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Andy, but from all I've heard he was a great guy. We all know he was an incredible chaser. So sorry to hear about this terrible tragedy.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Gabrielson family.Very sad indeed and just boils my blood to have people like that out on our roads..

Such a sad story. Didn't know him personally, but thought he was an excellent chaser and have always heard nothing but positive things about him. I just signed up for ChaserCon the other night and was discussing with my family that Andy was one of the presenters that I was looking forward to hearing speak. My condolences go out to his daughter, family, and friends. Both my family and I are praying for Andy and his loved ones.

My thoughts, prayers and condolences to Andy's family and friends.I admired and understood Andy's passion. This is just another reminder to us that life's too short so love the one you got.

Man, this news just made my bad day even worse. I had the privilege of meeting Andy on April 26, 2009 during the Roll, Oklahoma tornado fest. He was a very nice guy and completely down to Earth. What a loss. RIP Andy.

I never got a chance to meet Andy. I have been thinking about him all day and going through videos of him. The more I learn about him the more frustrating/angry that I get. I wish I would have know the guy or even got the chance to meet him just once. This just pisses me off. I know the DUI driver was killed but I hope there is an investigation to see where that driver was that night.
