Thought you guys may be interested that there's a weather model app on Android and iOS now.

Full disclaimer: I designed this app. All proceeds generated are going back into additional features (we are not going to make any profit on this project at all, in fact we're really in the hole with development costs and I doubt we will make that up).

We have received great feedback from the weather community so far. The most requested thing people want is to include even more data sources. To that end, we are searching for partners (university and private sector) to help us deliver more data. In particular, we want to add more nowcasting/analysis data which would make this even more useful for chasers. But it's a nice way to get model data on the run.

iPhone/iPad/iPod: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/weathergeek-pro/id416571494?mt=8&ls=1

Let me know if you guys have questions or comments or if anyone out there would like to discuss a partnership to make more data available on the app. This is really a weather community-driven project and a lot of feedback from model watchers has been put into its development.

We also hope we can generate enough sales to begin buying banner ads here and on other weather forums. Moderators – please contact me and I would be happy to give some promo codes away to you for free copies for the iOS version (Android does not allow this).

Thanks!

Thanks for the comments! Brandon, you can "swipe" to advance images one at a time. Try swiping left or right. You can also swipe up and down to change levels. Rdale...most severe parameters are with the RUC model. Some with SREF too. I want to expand with more analysis products for severe. Looking at options for that now.

FYI..version 1.12 is now on the iTunes App Store for download. This is a free update to fix a minor bug with WRF image sharing and to correct a mislabeled parameter.

Limited Time Discount

Since severe weather season is here, we decided to offer a limited time discount of WeatherGeek Pro on both Android and iOS platforms. Get the app now for just $2.99. It took a lot of convincing for me to get our CFO to allow me to drop the price this low on the app, but I hope it will allow even more people to download it. So far, thousands of users have downloaded our app and have given it an average rating of over 4 stars. Let me know if you have any questions!

I just downloaded it....Very cool program!!! I look forward to playing around with it some more and I'll post a follow up.
John....Thanks for finally putting out a decent Android based weather product :-)

Since Google has such an insanely short refund policy, I figured I'd ask before downloading ... how will this look on a larger screen (like my Xoom) and has it been tested on Android 3.0?

Hi Lou,

We designed it for larger screens and it has been tested on various tablets. It has NOT been tested on Android 3.0...however, I would not expect any problems at all. If there are, we can get them fixed quickly.
