9/8/2010 REPORTS: TX/OK/AR

What a cool first post to ST. Welcome! Great video. I spent the day along the Red River counties and into southern Oklahoma. Many wall clouds that teased us with funnels all afternoon with one quick but rather wide rain-wrapped tor near Gainesville,TX.

Hey Rick, my wife and I were coming up I35 as fast as we could and were close to the Gainsville tornado you mention. We continued north, crossed the red river and joined the Skywarn net on the Ardmore repeater that is linked into Norman. We set up in Thackerville, and spotted a VERY clear large wall cloud about 2 miles West NorthWest of Thackerville. Before we could call in our sighting (we were trying to figure out distance, speed and direction), the sirens in Thackerville went off. Their Volunteer Fire Dept was on it. We worked our way up I35, very slowly and watched the wall cloud cross I35 about 6 miles south of Marietta moving north east. They issued a warning on the storm at this point, but my wife and I never did see a tornado. It was a VERY tough storm to spot on. There was NO lightening. NONE. You had to use cloud contrast. Also, you are already on the fringe of the Norman and Dallas radar sites. When you add in the fact that there were such HUGE areas of heavy rain between the radar site and our location, the radar was somewhat blinded.

Couple of videos I shot from the Gainesville/Lindsay, Tx tornadic storm. For a moment, there was debris coming up from the ground at the end of the funnel, so we reported it. Which I'm pretty sure spawned the tornado warning. Followed it up to Marietta, but it got dark and there was no lightning, so I called off chase.

Next video was from another tornado touchdown in Colbert Oklahoma earlier in the day. No warning, just some reports of damage and large power lines down across US 69/75. I went with KTEN-TV for a damage asessment. This is a montage of the video I shot:
