We are sitting at Hwy 86 and I-70 watching what was once a fairly good looking updraft an hour ago wither away to nothing. More towers starting to build west of us S of Kiowa CO. Met the whole V2 gang driving out here near Strasburg and they were heading West.

We are on highway 36 near Last Chance. I'm surprised they headed west, seems to me like things won't really get going until it gets further out east. We did see that cell you were talking about that dissipated into nothing. GR3 shows a decent cell coming down from the WY border that we are going to try to intercept near Woodrow...

AMA's radar is down so anybody chasing in NE New Mexico or the NW panhandle will have to depend on Pueblo and Clovis. A few good cells going up around Dalhart and Clayton right now.

Snow in CO??

I see on tornadovideos.net that a bunch of blue splotches are appearing in the mountains between Denver and Colorado Springs. I'm guessing they are getting some late season snow in the Rockies!! :D Hey honey, where did you put my old skis?? :)

Vortex may be doing something different than what the chasers are doing. It's possible that the are interested in a Denver cyclone (not well formed) or the meso-boundary on the Palmer Divide. Of course, they could just be headed to Boulder for the excitement of NCAR. They might have a rare chance to do some data collection in higher terrain or on the foothills.

Watched the same cell I believe Eric Treece mentioned from north of Calhan, CO. It briefly got it's act together and had a nice lowered updraft base and within 15 minutes, it gusted out to nothing. I'm back home drinking some cervezas!

tornado warning now for Dallam co. near Dalhart, tx

* AT 403 PM CDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED A LANDSPOUT. THIS
LANDSPOUT WAS LOCATED 16 MILES SOUTHWEST OF DALHART...MOVING
SOUTHEAST AT 20 MPH.

AMA's radar is still down.

KAMA is down until further notice. NWS-AMA issued an FTM saying that radar could be back up as early as this evening, but a part had to be ordered and is on the way.
NWS-AMA said:
THE RPG ROUTER FOR KAMA WSR-88D HAS MALFUNCTIONED AND MUST BE
REPLACED. PART IS ON ORDER AND THE RADAR COULD BE OPERATIONAL AS
EARLY AS THIS EVENING BUT WILL BE DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. STATUS
WILL BE UPDATED AS MORE INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE REGARDING THE
ETA OF THE ROUTER.

This sucks since storms are moving SE towards Amarillo. At least, we have the radar at Cannon AFB.

Looks like another storm starting to form West of our location. We are still sitting at 86 and I-70. Been watching the stuff coming toward Ft Morgan but that hasn't wet my appetite enough to make a move. Temp where I am is about 66f and the Td is 51. The wind has picked up a little bit so hopefully this will help things evolve here.

SPC mesoanalysis is showing 2,000 J of CAPE on the west end of the palmer divide with no cap now. Everywhere else is still moderately capped. It looks like storms get going off the foothills and are hitting an EML that is preventing them from further strengthening.

Just got done watching a beautiful sculptured meso on the NE side of the storm just north of Limon. The slow motion of the storm and a hill allowed us to watch it for nearly a half hour.

Michael Carlson is currently watching a massive HP bomb of a storm that just erupted on radar along a boundary. He said you can see the boundary being fed into the storm! This storm may be the storm of the day.
