5/8/09 NOW: AR/MO/KS/OK

I wish the cells in Carter county, Ok, would make up ther emind on which direction they want to go. Right now waitting in Marietta trying to stay out of the tennis ball sized hail.

Amazing lightning show on Lou's camera as he core punches that beast.

If I was Lou I don't think I would want to core punch this monster. It has consistently shown over 3" hail and is still going. The visible satellite loop of this storm is one of the most amazing I have seen.

Another nice cell popped off the OFB from the Comanche cell east of Breckenridge, amazing to watch on the loop. It went SVR in only three scans.

I just saw that. Already showing 2.25" hail moving down 180. I think everyone just needs to move to Breckenridge.

We had extensive damage in my area today. 30-50 injured in Carbondale, IL with 1 death. We had 40-50 mph winds in Ballard and McCracken County. Damage in Graves County, KY as well. Three counties in KY have declared state of emergencies.

Local media has been doing extended coverage.

New storms are forming tonight along the frontal boundary. Thunder and lightning during the past hour in Paducah. Looks like the boundary will move south later tonight.
