5/8/09 NOW: AR/MO/KS/OK

Storms now firing along front SE of OKC along I-40. I imagine that further development is likely down the front toward the Ardmore area, but if I were chasing down there I'd be a bit concerned about the front catching up to the storms even though they'll be heading ESE. From what I can tell the front hasn't started it's deceleration as of yet.

Deja Vu all over again for anyone who chose the Breckenridge storms. Stay patient, all you guys in OK ... cap may bust soon.

On our way to Ardmore area now... I like the field that cell is running into (most of the cells N of Ada are falling apart). Just wish we could take advantage of the vorticity in North Texas... we can hope.

Explosive growth of a cell right at Ada... but not very substantial.

Storm survivor (May 8th version) may now be underway officially near Sulpher, OK for that particular choice of chase region. They've been firing up and getting chopped apart almost immediately by the cap, but GRL3 shows this storm still keeping the beat on the border of Murray and Garvin Counties, so maybe it will make it. Craig Maire is out near that town and has reported that towers are looking much healthier now.

Mods can we add TX and fix the date?

I am not really holding out much hope for anything along I-40 with the exception of a few storms tight on the Red River....
...that said there is an interesting cell that has fired up just north of the Inola, Ok radar site and it seems to have broken the cap as the tops on it are sitting just shy of 40kft on the TDWR site in Tulsa, Ok (TTUL) but it seems to have fired up behind the front and I assume that is because its formed on a OFB left over by this mornings deracho that passed to the NE of the initiation point. The cell doesn't look all that impressive but it certainly has some height to it and could be interesting to watch. My fear is though as it moves off the OFB or collides with the front I see it just getting destroyed very quickly and it has formed just north of the watch as well.

Good couplet on the storm north of Brownwood,TX. This storm is now tornado warned. The anvil from this storm is streaming over my house.

Wow, that is an absolute MONSTER near Comanche county, TX. 4> hail now and 2 TVSs, although velocity isn't extremely strong. That is one powerful supercell. Lou Rou is closing in on it on severestudios.

Tops on this storm up to 56,000 ft. and still showing 3.25" hail. This is a definte window basher for sure.

AT 808 PM CDT...TRAINED WEATHER SPOTTERS REPORTED A TORNADO. THIS
TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR EARLY...MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 15 MPH.

Confirmed Brown county TX.

Come on Lou, we got about 15 minutes of daylight left!

The storn north of Brownwood Tx almost resembles the storm thet hit Jarrell in 1997. When you look at the radar loop, it continues to back build to the southwest into an area of extreme surface instability. There has not been the number of tornadoes associated with this storm, but it is interesting none the less.
