5/23/08 NOW: KS/NE/CO/OK/WY/SD

SPC MD #0986
BUNKERS SUGGESTS A STORM MOTION OF 190-200 DEGREES
AT 25-30 KTS.
Thats alot more reasonable than yesterdays rocket fest. Tornado warned cell in Lane and Gove CO. Wow was that fast!

EDIT- Exploding cell SE of Ulysses, Ks moving due north. Another E of Garden City along with the multi-sup complex in Lane and Gove Countys. Sup in Lane and Gove Co has just split moving due north. I wouldnt get suckered into that cell although we might see some tornadoes from that cell the boundary isnt very far north of this cell and it looks to be travelling fast. More activity developing further south along the dryline.

Edit- 2 Individual tor warned cells now one in N Lane and the other in E Gove Co.

Edit- Radar lighting up like a christmas tree with development all across W and SW KS. Cell east of Ulysses has intensified along with the cell E of Garden City. Also new development now N invof Liberal, KS. Developing funnel on Matt Grantham's live webcam.

Sitting at a gas station (with a sign that says "We're open -- NO GAS") in the window -- lol -- in Collyer. Looks like quite a storm from here. The air is quite juicy but the temps aren't high at all; maybe high 60s. Storm looks to have a nice start on radar, though the southern cell is worrying me a bit; hopefully it doesn't interfere much with the northern, or if it does, it really takes off. Planning on sitting here until the core goes by, then moving west a bit.

3 Cell split E of Ulysses, KS with a hard right turner moving very fast to the NE. Cell in C Gove CO showing classic hook sig on radar very nicely.

Matt Grantham is just south of I-70 with a large wall cloud about to pass in front of him on his chase cam. It looked as if there was a brief tornado on the ground earlier, but it was hard to tell.

Matt Grantham now has a large wedge on his live fee near Quinter. Nice view of the tornado, going through a field.

Looks like David Drummond has something on his stream near Shields,KS.
Not sure, but looks like a huge wedge tornado on the ground.
David is streaming off of Severe Studios.

Sculpted with a great clear slot wrapping around! New meso out in front too...what a series of chase days.

Large tornado just west of Quinter.

Beautiful flying eagle NW of Dodge City, KS with unimpaired inflow from the ESE. Could be a long lived storm. Tornado has been reported by chasers! :)

Big wedge on Dennis Sherrod's feed...

Edit: Based on SpotterNet it looks like it crossed I-70 between somwhere between Park and Quinter. Watched it on the feed for 15 minutes - it was already there when I first looked and it was still going strong as it finally faded into bad contrast murk. Looked large and dangerous.

Bill hark is reporting a high-contrast wedge tornado about 6 miles west of Quinter on the I-70. Jason Persoff also viewed the tornado, and is now rendering assistance to an apparent vehicle rollover...Bill was unsure if this was a chaser, or directly related to the tornado or what.

It's fascinating to watch this unfold live on the PC via the webcams. Any storm with an intact meso gets north near the WF/OFB and its rotation increases rapidly and it puts down a wedge! Air just south of the boundary is 79/72 and just north of it is 63/57. Storms that cross it don't live long, but they sure go out with a bang!!
