4-7-08 NOW: OK/TX

In n Wichita Falls. Man, what a disappointment. I couldn't get a data connect all the way north of Throckmorton and Seymore and east of Seymore until almost right on the wallcloud nw of Wichita Falls. I missed one or 2 cycles, but caught the last decent wallcloud and pseudo funnel building, but I was screwing trying to get my severestream to work. The dashcam was running, but for some reason even with the connection I couldn't get through. Ended up having to reboot my computer and reload / restart all the apps. By the time I got it up and the Severe Stream video running and streaming properly the wallcloud had fallen mostly apart. Oh, and then I noticed I also forgot to hit 'Rec' on that part of the storm so I didn't get video of the wallcloud either. Tsk, Tsk. :( Then of course the storm starts falling apart right when everything is working well. Hope you all enjoyed the RFD remnants of the wallcloud and the view of the streets of Wichita Falls going past. ;)

Not sure what to do now. I thought it would be a little more intense storm wise than this if convection started. I see some weak cells north and south. I will be monitoring for the next intercept. Any opinions welcome.

Storm Update

Steve Miller TX has towering cumulus blowing up.
Stever Miller OK has storm trying to form wall cloud.
David Drummond is near the same storm as Steve Miller TX (Last I heard) and has towering cumulus as well.
Roger's and Bill's feeds have been up and down. We have not been in communication with Roger to determine his current location. Looks like Bill is in Witchita Falls from the post above.

I think its safe to say that anyone that can get down to the cells that have fired Sw of Wichita Falls to get down there ASAP. Things north of the Red River cant seem to get rooted. 2 different areas of interest. Storm thats moved into SW Wichita Co is the stronger of the 2 attm but dont rule out the cell in Archer Co. Either way anyone down there if you want to see the next tornado before sunset make your play now if u havent already.

EDIT* Latest scan has confirmed what I thought I was seeing. Storm in SW Wichita Co starting to hook. I cant tell on NWS radar if its starting to rotate or not but based upon the precip sig this thing means buisness. Also looks like its starting to make a right turn. Should be able to tell with the next frame. Also note a good size area with 65 DBZ falling just NE of meso.

Well, my day is pretty much done. Should've gone south early when storms started firing south of the Red River, but decided to stay north instead. That Wichita county storm really destroyed Tds up here. Still rather surprised we couldn't get anything going from Snyder to Hobart though. Probably would've played the N Texas storms today but there's really no easy way down there. Wichita Falls was the place to be today.

More im looking at these 2 cells sw of Wichita Falls im liking the cell in Archer co. Has nothing to its south and is steadily growing stronger where as the cell in Wichita Co seems to flare up then down ever other frame. Wondering if the Archer Co cell may become the dominate cell and cut off the cell to the north.

One other thing I think Brandon makes a good point. On the meso analysis page that cell killed the dews. Im seeing solid 60F dews within 200 miles of the current cells in Wichita and Archer Co. Looking like moisture ended up being a factor for more of a wide spread event after all.

Currently viewing Tvs wsw of Wichita Falls. Other storm coming up on my from sw. May have to move soon to avoid clobber. It is also a Tvs.

Check my severe stream it is running.

Tornado attempting to form. Condensation near or on ground. Sorry, accidentally switched cam off. Have to reinitialize.

Archer Co. storm getting a little stinger nw of Archer City....the supercell looks nicely structured even though not presently t-warned. Looks like that may change shortly though....Wichita Co. supercell nw of Holliday and east of Kamay also getting a nice classic boomerang hook as well. Now if they could just somehow turn a little right and get a better TOR potential.

TVS getting stronger or should I say broader with the cell in Archer Co. Also seeing tvs with the cell in Wichita Co but its alot weaker than the cell to the south. Also would like to mention the cell NE of OKC right now along the warm front. Putting down some big hail right now and has a classic sup look to it on radar. Even RFD showing up with a slight hook. Its warm of the warm front though so I dont know what kind of tor potential it has but a nice looking cell none the less.

Wow Bill, which storm are you on, the southern one? That came as close as you could come to producing before the cam went off. Looks like amazing structure now. Nice appendage hanging off the back, TVS, and decent couplet. Wunderground radar showing >4 inch hail!

Seeing the appendage too Andrew. Funny watching the northern cell mimic its southern twin. Storm north of OKC must be riding the warm front. Not seeing any tvs with the storm but its held its classic sup look now for about 20 min and still has that appendage/hook to it.

Supercell tvs wrapping up north of Archer City and heading towards Scotland area....sure looks interesting at this point. Looks like it may be turning a little right now...and has a nice inflow notch.

Here in Tulsa... that cell coming right at me looks great! I didn't think I'd have a chance to chase today (been stuck in an office all day), and unfortunately, we're losing daylight. This cell could be a significant threat to the Tulsa metro area very soon.

Alex Lamers and a few other are on that cell. At the moment, there is not a whole lot to see on it as far as low level rotation goes. They have decided to close up shop and head up back up I-44 to Norman. I'm keeping an eye on it as there is still some signs of very weak rotation. As of now, it's just a big HP supercell which might be on the verge of becoming outflow dominate.

Maybe something will form up into OK along the dryline in the next couple of hours. One thing that has interested me is the one cell that is now in northern Stephens County, OK. It split off the group of cells around Wichita Falls about an hour and a half ago and shot quickly NW out of the region. I wonder what the heck caused that storm to act so much different than it's brothers.

Golfball size hail reported in Mannford, OK (just west of Tulsa) per News 6 Tulsa. Starting to see intense lightning to the west now. Storm still maintaining mid-level rotation.

Not sure if that cell N of El Reno is still elevated or not but it looks like it has turned hard right on the front and is starting to show some signs of rotation, those bases were way high around sunset with those storms....
