4/3/11 NOW: IA,MO, KS

Jesse Risley seemed to have a wall cloud a moment ago on his live stream on that storm in Iowa.

Central Platte County

at 743pm hail falling, fantastic lightning show. Severe storm warning just issued for n.e. Kansas N.W. Missouri counties possible 60+ mph winds and destructive hail.

The initial 'storm' in question here was smoke. You can easily see the plume on radar a little before 5pm, then you'll watch it quickly fade away. Then 20-30mins later an actual storm exploded literally within minutes on the boundary. Initially it was heading NE, then it started interacting with the CF and started going almost due E.

North of Lawrence there was a huge dust cloud moving with the storm. Possible gustnado. A certain famous TV chaser said it was a tornado, but I highly doubt it. I also saw a well defined dust devil or two.

The cold front now moving through ICT as I type. Strong wind (gusting to 60 1.1 NNW of IAB) with
CC lightning.

Trust me, the initial storm in question was in fact a storm. It was NOT smoke. I was watching it build up from my back yard, and debating whether it was worth it to take a drive (which as it turns out, it wasn't). It was getting ripped apart just as fast as it was developing. This was about the same time the storms started firing off around the Ft. Riley/Topeka area, and I would have never been able to catch up with them (aside from the fact that this is all after dark).

I saw the dust cloud but was several miles away so I could not see if there was rotation or not. I was up by Easton at the time and could not get far enough south to get close to it.
