6 quarters length is 5.7". New record hail size for IL I think. That's really large hail size for so far N for so early in the season.

not sure if I trust that image, the first one was used a few years ago as an example on how to measure hail sizes, I remember seeing it on something a while ago. the other one is unknown

There was another picture posted as a comment on the NWS Chicago Facebook page on the storm that showed a hailstone by a tape measure. This stone appears to be around 6.5 inches in diameter.
