Winter Weather Advisory issued August 27 at 9:01AM MDT until August 28 at 6:00PM MDT by NWS Missoula MT

* WHAT...Snow expected above 5000 feet. Likelihood of moderate impacts from 3 to 6 inches of snow is greater than 90 percent, and up to a 40 percent chance of isolated major impacts from 6 to 10inches or more of snow.* WHERE...Glacier National Park higher elevations including upper reaches of Going-to-the-Sun Road and Logan Pass and Marias Pass on US Highway 2.* WHEN...From 6 AM to 6 PM MDT Wednesday.* IMPACTS...Travel could be affected.

Outdoor recreationalists should be prepared for winter conditions. Snowfall could impact roads and cold temperatures may result in hypothermia. Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Very cold out out West late last week and earlier this week. There was 11" of snow at Logan Pass MT. That's
pretty impressive for August for 6600 ft. But even more impressive was the cold, with many all-time August
record low temps set, esp. in CA. See here:

Unfortunately, when it is cold or cooler than normal, esp. in the summer to break the heat, coverage in the MSM
is limited. Very obvious bias exists pushing heat, even when it is typical summer heat, as if we never had hot summers
or heatwaves before?

Don't get me wrong, hot weather/heatwaves deserve news coverage, but stop taking ordinary summer wx and
acting/pushing like it is extraordinary! Example: hyping "much of the country is experiencing brutal 90 F + temps,"
and it is July, when 1) ~40% of the country *normal* highs are 90 F + and 2) 90 F is not "hot" to many that living
desert climates, like parts of CA/NV/AZ/NM. To them, 90 F is a cool and refreshing summer day!.
