2012-04-14 MISC: TX/OK/KS/NE/IA

Ive followed the ICT cell since it started dropping tornados near Alva, OK and Im pretty sure its been TW'd with spotter sightings since that point. My rough measurements show that its had a tornado on the ground - based on the spotters only - for over 150 miles. That's remarkable.

Well, I am having a lot harder time interpreting the Salina storm. Until this last scan, spectrum width helped me think I wasn't crazy in seeing a bunch of noise. It would appear rotation is just south of Bavaria now headed for Salina. Upper scan shows another area of rotation starting too.

Looks like other storm might have jumped dropped it's core about 3 scans ago though it still is rotating. Hopefully it is close to done.

SPC SIG TOR fixed layer = 11 near ICT. Tornado warning just reissued near WWD. Don't count on the tornadoes being over yet. Might be if the inversion can set in but there may be enough forcing for tornadic storms if they can stay surface-based.

If that storm is producing it should be on Salina. Hopefully last stand as it should be moving into cold pool air from prior storms and cold front is ctaching up to it.

Well, ICT storm is getting hard to see as it is in between radar sites. Appears to be splitting up and last report was about 45 minutes ago.

Looks like Woodward, OK is back in the sights of another storm like all the rest of the day. Same track area of nice ingredients still exist from Woodward to ICT. Guess we'lll see if they have capability to move off front. Haven't had time to check aloft.

Looks like OUN decided "screw this, we'll just do one big ole' warning":

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR...
BECKHAM COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL OKLAHOMA...
CUSTER COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL OKLAHOMA...
DEWEY COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA...
ELLIS COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA...
GREER COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA...
HARMON COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA...
ROGER MILLS COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL OKLAHOMA...
EXTREME NORTHWESTERN WAA COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL OKLAHOMA...
EXTREME SOUTH CENTRAL WOODWARD COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA...

* UNTIL 1245 AM CDT

The warning measures 127 x 48 miles in size.

Looks like couplet moved over Woodward and LEWP type setup over KS/OK border. Might start looking for imbedded. Same type imbedded setup in Beckham county too.

Edit: LEWP maybe not...but inflow notch might be there and looks to be a bookend on the northern extend by the inflow notch. Looks like the bowing situation might be here Tim was wondering about.

Torn warning for storm north of Salina went away but it appears in last scan has very small area of tight circulation. Also looks like wrap around of hail through 3 tilts.

(NWS Norman outdid theirselves on that colossal severe thunderstorm warning.. now there's one measuring 202 miles long. That's about half the size of North Korea, but thankfully with only half the amount of dangerous stuff falling out of the sky)..

I might be getting tired but the storm NE of Salina going towards Wakefield, KS looks like it has regen'd. I am see slight rotation and reflectivity would agree.

Break Break...They just put out a new warn. Think they have been under tornado warns a few times too. Looks like a direct hit there again.
