2012-04-03 MISC: TX

Very interesting as I watched the first 2 supercells about 60 miles South make their way up into DFW. The storm cycled extremely quickly and actually the first tornado warning was issued as the tornado had already touched down in Cleburne. The radars had to have a hard time sampling the cell as it looked to be cycling down at that time. Obviously that wasnt the case and now this mini outbreak is happening.

Tornado just on Jason McLaughlin's stream on ChaserTV near Heath, now assisting, stream showing damage to houses/cars

Edit: Looks like it was closer to Forney, TX

Based on video in Arlington these were intense tornadoes. Arlington has been declared a disaster area.

Arlington has been declared a disaster area.

Just to explain... A locally declared disaster means nothing more than the area expects help from outside their normal responders and wants to have things in place to enable mutual aid and recoup money later. It is not a sign of "extreme severity" - just a formality for making claims later.

Whether its "extreme severity" or not, there has been considerable damage. I'm sure the public in that area isn't to concerned on the exact definition. Some of these tornadoes were large and fairly intense based on videos.

And they shouldn't be. All I was noting is that declaring a state of disaster means nothing more than something bad happened, worse than they can handle with city resources only.

Based on damage video many well built homes were wiped out, I have a feeling this may be one of the more intense outbreaks we have had in the DFW area. BTW Tim Marshall has awesome video of the tornado in Arlington!
