2008 NSCC - Who's going~!?

I don't know yet. But i would like to go. It be nice to meet most of you and put faces and voices with words! But work might get in the way since i'm going to be starting a new job at the beginning of next year. so i don't know how much time i can get off yet. But hopefully i still the vacation time already asked for.
 
I'll be going for the conference in 2008. I missed 2007 but have enjoyed some of the previous conventions. They are a lot of fun and there is always a nice mixture of talks for both experienced and new chasers and for researchers/meteorology students.

Based on past years:
Things kick off Friday evening (approx 6-7pm) with participant registration/check in/and a social hour (usually 2-3 hours) that has drinks and light snacks.
Sat starts around 8 or 8:30am, with presenters all day (lunch on your own) and then dinner along w/keynote speaker, followed by chaser video night.
Sun starts around 8 or 8:30am, (breakfast on your own) with presenters in the morning (lunch on your own) and potentially into the afternoon.
 
I will DEFINITELY be going again this year: I wouldn't miss it for the world!
My first time at the convention was '05, had to skip '06 because my dad was otherwise occupied that weekend and he didn't want me driving to Denver by myself only a month after I got my license:mad:, but Dad and I were able to make it again this year.:) This go round, my dad is getting a new job, so depending on his work schedule he may or may not tag along with me again. But I will assuredly be there. :cool:
It's only a two hour drive from Fort Morgan to southeast Aurora, so I figure I can leave by 2 p.m. in a likely futile attempt to beat rush hour traffic, come in the back door from the east on I-70 and get down to the hotel by 4 p.m, get checked in and have a couple hours to relax before the festivities kick off at 6 o'clock.
It's been a TOTAL blast both times, and I'm immensely looking forward to '08. This time I'll actually have some chase footage/pictures to bring, so I'm very eager to get to share that with everyone, including some world exclusive photographs! And I'm not kidding about that!
It'll be great to see old friends and meet new ones. What more can I say - this chase geek is PSYCHED!!!:D

I will definately be there this year. I know some of us don't have a lot of extra money to spend. As a suggestion, Walmart has some exellent plastic round discs to sled on for about $4 or $5. I know it's not quite skiing, but it's a lot of fun.

Excellent suggestion Sarah! Last year we braved the 40-50mph wind gusts near Empire, CO just to sled down a nice hill! It was great! I'm looking forward to seeing many of the folks I met last year, and I know there's at least a couple hundred more that I have yet to meet. See y'all there!

Hey Everyone,
We are looking forward to meeting everyone at the convention! This will be the first time our team has attended the national convention.

1/2 the SevereStudios Chase Team will be present (Kory Hartman, Kenny Allen, Ben Holcomb, and Landon Rae).

We are driving out from South Dakota (10 hour drive), so hopefully the weather will cooperate with us and keep those roads open!
 
I've secured the time off at work, now I just need to clear a few more things form my schedule and I'll be good to go. If I do go, and I am almost 100% sure I am going to be able to, I wont be staying on site and will be in one of the Marriotts in the area as it makes more sense for me to stay at one and get my employee discount.

If anyone else is planning on going, but needs help with lodging costs, send me a pm and I can include you in my party and get an extra room for about 35 dollars (49 at the most) at any of the Marriotts in the area.
 
After thinking about it quite a bit lately I am pretty sure that I will be attending now. I sure had a fun time last year and it is always cool to meet new people and listen to the speakers and everything. Look forward to seeing some familiar faces and even some new ones!
 
I am pretty sure I will be going, and might be interested in getting together with others for some skiing before or after. My travel plans are still quite up in the air, and I may not have them finalized until a few days before. But I am at least 90% sure that I will be there. I have really enjoyed the convention the past couple years, and do not want to miss it.
 
im up in the air now... still debating on chasercon or billy joel tickets. both cost about the same. but for the weekend hotel price will be out of my price range... we shall see....
