2008 NSCC - Who's going~!?

We'll all be there again this year, maybe with some video this time.

Verne, I really want to check out your WW RC planes. Bring them if you can.

Well, a lot of you know I have been unemployed for 3 1/2 years now, and have been trying to sell my house in NM. I got an offer a few weeks ago, but there were some issues that kept me (only) cautiously optimistic.

As of today, the final potential hurdle to selling it has been cleared, and I am

OUT OF HERE!!! :D:D:D

I am moving to near Lamar CO. I have some $ now that the house is sold.

See you in Denver. I haven't been since 2003, so it's about time.

Want skiing lessons, Melissa? I'm your guy, LOL. I'm out of shape, but it's like riding a bike.

I plan on going. I live in north Edmond, Oklahoma. Will be driving. If anyone from the Okla City area wants to go let me know. We will split the cost of the gas. I will be out of town until 12 12 07 on company business. Just send an email to me.

Maybe I will make plans to be off if I can find someone in the SE that is going to head that way. That is, unless my wifes pregnancy lasts until then. LOL.

Haha well I actually do know how to ski...i hear it's a lot more difficult to ski in North Carolina than out there because most of our snow is man-made and has an icy/granular surface (less friction) whereas you guys tend to have powder. But again I also hear that the slopes are a lot steeper out there. I was thinking of possibly organizing a group of people who would want to go skiing if anyone is interested. It'd be more fun with a group.

I know this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but as a suggestion to those of you still planning your trip, consider online agencies such as Hotwire, Travelocity, Orbitz, and Priceline. I know these companies are hyped up, but last year, we used Hotwire.com and got a round-trip ticket, three nights at the Radisson SE, and full-sized car rental for $317 a person from Orlando, FL. And for those of you worried about airline hassles, well, there weren't any. It actually seemed to go smoother than it would have if we had all purchased tickets directly from the airline. If anyone else has any tips to share on budget-saving travel to the convention, please share! As my brother Paul mentioned, we will be coming again this year. I just couldn't miss it after last year. My sister Sarah, and my now fiance, Sharon, will be coming along too! Hope to see you all there. Skiing? Never done it!

Already registered and will definitely be there. I work 1 exit down the freeway from the convention so getting there Friday will be a piece o cake. Still contemplating if I will stay at the hotel or commute back and forth from the house.

No skiing for me, but if anyone is wanting to snowshoe, I may consider a vaca day from work Friday and head up to Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park.

Skiing last year would have been great, if you like 80-100 mph wind gusts. :D We took a little road trip for pics and a little snow. Roads closed early, and we nearly got cut off from Denver. Quite fun, though; been a while since I had driven on snow.

I guess you could call that our first winter weather chase. Although I have a feeling it's pretty common in CO. I'd love to try skiing sometime, but I'm sure by the time we pay our way to the convention, we won't have the money this year. I'm ready to see some snow again though, and thank God that's free! It usually costs you a snow machine rental down in these parts... and that doesn't even really count as snow. Hopefully there will be some white stuff when we arrive!

Speak for yourself :) Some of those of us living up here are enjoying mild weather and the ability to still go outside without 2 feet of snow everywhere. T-shirt and shorts in December, still able to hike trails west of town, and having my outdoor roller hockey rink dry (and thus skatable) is wonderful up here.

I will be going again this year. I had rented a car from the hotel for next to nothing for Friday. I had wanted to ski Loveland but they closed I70 so that was a bust. I will be trying the same thing this year. I get in Thursday early afternoon and hope to ski Friday. I'd be up for a group event or company....
