2/24/07 DISC: MN / WI / IA / IL (WINTER PRECIP)

Between 7 and 8 inches fell at my place in Grand Forks, ND. Looks like the jackpot goes to southeast MN/southwest WI. That area was hit by the intense frontogenesis band, vortmax and trowl. Note how a few miles southeast of Winona received 6 more inches than in town. Frontogenesis bands are fun (and a pain to forecast... miss it by a county and you really blow the forecast amounts) Looks like another system is on the way for mid week and could be another doozy.

Also saw this note in the morning MPX discussion: HOPEFULLY...WE ARE NOT EVOLVING TOWARDS THE SAME UPPER LEVEL FLOW PATTERN THAT WAS IN PLACE DURING THE SPRING OF 1965!

There was epic spring flooding in Minnesota that year followed by a series of F4 tornadoes which tore through the MSP metro.
