Interesting observation with the convection overrunning the shallow surface air in the northern part of Texas. As I write this, Abilene, TX is currently under a svr tstorm warning with hail reports up to golfball size. Current surface temp is 30F and it's snowing!

And the storm has a pretty strong meso. In fact there are 8 meso equipped storms in the area....looks like the party's started without the warm air.
 
Against my better judgment I've started charging my scanner and vidcam...I'm not thrilled about instability but the LL shear is just too crazy to totally resist..perhaps morning light will shed reason upon me but until then...I'm prepared for an early-morning departure.
