12.1 MP camera... suggestions

None of those links work. You'll find anything camera related cheaper at B&H or Adorama though. Look to the top of this section in the 'buy from these companies' topic.
 
I'm not going to tell you which camera you should or should not buy, but I will tell you that more megapixels does not mean better picture quality.
 
You don't need 12MP to get good prints. Anything more than 6 is fine, also know that optical quality is very important. I don't have any experience with cameras in that price range, So I can't really help you out. As most here would say, an entry level DSLR is the best way to go but you'd have to pay $400 - $600

Yeah, it's less about the MPs and more about the lens...also that $400-600 would be just for the camera body, but then you have to remember that your image quality is really going to come from the lens...so you'd be paying at least that amount again for a decent lens.
