11/23/04 FCST: MO,AR,LA,TX

Very interesting day with amazing dynamics. RUC forecasted SRH in eastern Texas to be 200-300 m2s-2 by 2100 Z and 400 to 500 by 00Z especially near the Lufkin area. CAPES less impressive but good at 1500 to 2000. Hopefully the southeasterly surface winds will increase as the low over southcent Texas deepens and moves northeasterly. Examining the upper levels, winds at 250 MB are southwesterly at 85 across the whole area. They are at 100 in Mexico though the lack of reporting locations closer to Texas makes it difficult to judge when that area will impact Texas. Wind speeds are also good at the 500MB level (50) and also from the SW. At 850, they are southerly in Dallas and from the SW in Shreveport. At the surface, winds are southeasterly through eastern Texas (not particularly strong). The low is between Bryan and Austin. I am concerned about ongoing convection to the west and cloudcover. I will shift my target area to Palestine, Texas.

Good luck to those chaseing!
