On another site, discussion on the snow pack and pack ice at the north pole and in Siberia are already starting to fill in too. This seem to be a good thing from the folks that knew more about it than me. Early snow pack here in the US is a good thing. We also will need to keep the temperatures low, and get the ground frozen for us to see much.

Who here is a good synoptic forecast meteorologist, because I stink, but would love to learn more about winter weather patterns.

There are so many variables when it comes to winter weather long term forecasting. They include Pacific Temperatures (ENSO or La Nina), Siberian Pack Ice, Ridging, and those are too name a few. I'm not an expert nor a novice I tried to understand what caused winter patterns but it just blew my mind. I am still trying to pick it up but its confusing.
