10/10/10 Reports: OK

Was on the Western Oklahoma Supercell like several others. Storm tried very hard to lock onto the boundary and produce even despite the VERY meager TDs. After its one and only attempt, became pretty darned high based and then went on to produce an insane microburst at our location in Anadarko. Here's a couple of vids:

Great looking stuff there Chris. Congrats on the sucessful chase.

I was at work so I wasn't able to do much chasing, but I did get an awesome lightning show near Lockett, TX.

Gustnado

Observed the same supercell as Chris Sanner in SW OK and photographed what I think was a tall and somewhat long-lived gustnado east of Carnegie. I was located along Hwy 9 about halfway between Carnegie and Ft. Cobb, looking SW at the time. It started around 653pm and lasted nearly two full minutes. Interestingly enough, it developed along the north edge of the RFD, closer to the storm updraft and displaced from the more pronounced area of visible blowing dust to the south.

Supercell

Documented the western Oklahoma supercell from Hobart to Chickasha: I was impressed with the structure and if it had moved a little further from the cold front it might have produced a tornado, even so, it came rather close to producing one anyway. I think it looked it's best (strongest) just east of Hobart, but it was prettier near sunset around Fort Cobb.

I intercepted the same storm out southeast of Cordell and Northwest of Gotebo. It looks impressive at first, with a nice lowering and some rotation. RFD dust was being kicked up on the south side of the storm.

Eventually it became garbage looking, and I decided to go drive into the core. New hail dings all over my truck. I measured 1.5" hail east of Carnegie and 59MPH in Anadarko.
