The weather is starting to get active. A tornado watch is up for central and south east Iowa and the first warning has been issued for a storm north west of Des Moines. I thought it was time for a now thread.

Ps. There is also a storm with a nice hook in Maine right now.

anyone see the line of "supercells" or what should be supercells go up? I'm a little worried the 850 shear is strong enough to be blowing the tops over too much, hurting the updrafts so I was wondering if anyone saw them go up or can see them to see what the structure looks like. I guess I am just impressed at how weak and slow these things are intensifying or non-intensifying depending on how you wanna look at it.

Sitting here at the Indiana-Illinois border... watching storm after storm getting blown over. Lots of updrafts but nothing holding together. Must be really, really strong shear.

Nice Hook and Couplet showing near Elmwood and Yates City IL - cell had been producing wall cloud reports, now reports of a large elephant trunk Tornado with power flashes and debris, illinois is heating up

From NWS in Lincoln

Reports of damage in Elmwood, and a large and extremely dangerous tornado west of Peoria moving towards the city... This isn't good. :(

EDIT - There's was a huge lowering on Shawn Brown's feed... couldn't tell if it was in contact with the ground because of trees.

EDIT 2 - NWS Lincoln still has spotters saying the tornado is on the ground and in East Peoria...

It is getting really difficult to make it out, but on streaming video the mesocyclone looks amazing and in the last images I saw of the base it looked like it could produce at any minute. Between that and the current rotation showing up on radar this could most certainly be a bad deal.

Just watched tornado cross over interstate 74 in front of us near kickapoo.
