Cloud tops on that storm are 40.7, or 40,700 feet ... there are actually four mesos currently with tops over 40g, the highest at 43,100 ...

good grief! - max hail on that cell is now at 4.00 ...

Jeff - your friend made a good choice - looks like the anvil is starting to seed the storm to the north now - may not hang out much longer -

Hail Size??

Hey Max,

Please translate that max hail size (4.00). Is that four inches in diameter? Would that be about tennis or baseball size?? Where's my hail crash helmet!!!! LJK.

Well it was fun while it lasted ... hope somebody got something to show us. Have seen a couple of nice vids from yesterday now - time for me to party on away from the radar screen - - -

Have a good weekend all -

It's a great way to learn all right, but it's still hard to sit still while events unfold ... and I'm waaay over in Kentucky (waiting for our turn).

The next scan or two may tell the tale, but it looks to my eyeballs that the line north of Abilene is breaking up as it gets into a little better shear profile and the mid-level backs off a bit. The outflow boundary clearly visible for awhile seems to be stalling and dissipating. The next meso might make an appearance around Albany.

... Nah, not yet.... Gusted out again.

Again, when all else fails, TARGET THROCKMORTON! There is a tornado magnetic field their that enhances tornadogenesis ... LOL

Excellent advice from Jedi Master Magliocco ...

We're on the verge of having another TOR warning ... the southern cell is now rotating also - and the trajectory is now ideal for this to go on for a while ... look for dual warnings, and possibly a third within the next little while - - - turned out to be an exciting afternoon!

For future reference...not waiting until storms are ongoing is the NUMBER ONE tip for successful chasing; picking a target, believing in it, and acting on it, are vital pieces of the process of learning how to chase. Even when you don't know what you're doing...if the desire to be out there is for real, you'll find a way to the storms, and eventually, the right one.

Trey - I know but I'm not telling. It's time for you to learn the ways of the force young padawan. You must decide whether or not to chase based on the information already given ... is it possible for you to intercept all the way from Gainesville ... or is it too much of a risk ... you must make your own choice today and live with the consequence. You'll feel better about your choice if you make it on your own ;)

Agreed; you'll never learn unless you go out and figure it out for yourself.
