Your All-time Favorite Tornado Video?

What a great thread. I'm certainly too late to not have my thunder stolen by all the great footage that's already been posted. There's certainly a big nostalgia factor that features in a lot of my favorites, but this would probably be my top 5.

5 - Tie: Skip's Bowdle Dome Lapse / Albert Lea Dome Lapse. The continuity of perspective gives such an amazing spatial awareness of storm-scale structure.
4 - McConnell AFB. Those sirens. That incredible tornado evolution.
3 - Great Bend, KS - 1974. I drew this one so many times as a kid. Not even that crazy of a tornado, but that last shot that zooms into those crisp, hard edges and that textured dust...
2 - Washington, IL Hits House. There's a whole genre of video that really terrifies me on a gut level - the "Trapped In A Room Listening to the Tornado Hit" videos. There are a couple insane examples from Joplin, and an equally scary one from Parkersburg. But this one gives me chills literally every time. The "devil-sheep" sound as the EF4 vibrates the house, and then the eerie silence and sirens aftermath...
1 - Columbus, NE - Crazy Farmer. Nothing more needs to be said.

Random quotes I often use on storm chases thanks to years of watching these classics:
"Hell I got struck" - mumbled when first waking up.
"Look at the twirlin action."
"We're alright. We're full grown adults." - any time things get a little hairy.

That washington video is probably one of the most haunting tornado videos out there. I can't think of a better before-during-after video. When he peers outside and its eerily calm with the distant sirens wailing gives me goosebumps everytime. Thats like a scene from an end of the world movie.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the Dupree, SD, 06/16/2010, videos from Mike H. and Roger Hill are pretty good for watching a tornado that was nearly stationary for quite some time. Some of my favorites were already mentioned, so I'm going with this one. Here's the video from Roger Hill (aka Hillnado).

What a great thread! I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the videos. Most of them I've already watched plenty of times before, and I don't get tired of seeing them again. They've all got their distinct points about them that make for mesmerizing viewing.

But this is the first I've seen of Verne's footage of the Canton tornado, and I love it. The other videos all give me a sense of awe. But while Verne's also has that effect, it also makes me smile. It's not just the tornado, which is incredible; it's Verne's response. He's got WOW just leaking out of him, raw and unfiltered. I'd be the same way, and I can't help but enjoying that kind of childlike wonderment in another person. Awesome storm, great reaction to it, and jaw-dropping video.

Oh gosh yes. Terror in D minor. This one has to be mine hands down. I was 10 when this happened. Saw it on the news back then. This and the Andover event in general gave me nightmares. And of course 5+ years of seeing it replayed over and over on TWC and Discovery Channel, any chance they had.

Great thread. Amazing videos. So many to choose from. I'll throw out a couple that haven't been posted that are my Favorites.

Andy Gs video from Minnesota in August 2010 is one of the bests out there. Truly amazing.

Jerry Funfsinns video of Langley/Geneseo KS 2012 tornado is also up there on my list. http://stealthchaser.com/ Good blog/website to bookmark.
