Wireless internet...cheapest way

a couple things i didnt like about tethering was the data being dropped for incoming calls like someone else mentioned earlier, and how much my phone battery got drained (it only holds a full charge for 2 full days if im lucky). One other problem i had, which i dont know if it was installing the VZ Manager not quite right or phone settings, but it would not let me tether if i was in Verizon's "extended network" aka roaming. It seemed like if i got more than about 2 hours away from the Twin Cities in any direction i would be in the extended network. I might have to invest in a truckers antenna or amplifier kit and bring my phone in to a Verizon store to see if the settings need to be changed.

I think the access manager has an option to block access when you are in roaming. That way you don't incur lots of $$$$$$$.. Unless you don't truly have a roaming, then you are fine.

I'd like to hear comments regarding signal boost kits. Do they work? If so, how much better? pros; cons etc.

Yeah, I bought one of the 'Maximum Signal' booster, antenna, and phone adapter seen advertised on this site.
Pretty good deal overall, I use the antenna w/o the booster around town.
Out in the sticks, I hook it up.
The guy who runs the company will take care of you and answer all of your questions - good seller.
Haven't used it on a big chase w/major electrical storms as yet, but the kit comes complete w/everything that you need - including the AC/DC adapter.
Price was $250~
Recommeded...

Even if you don't get a 'MS kit', get/try an external antenna for some Db boost for less than $40~
