Well, I suppose it's obligatory for someone to bring up the instant winter storm.

My main question is how many more billions of dollars in aide from the U.S. Treasury will flow into New York? I can imagine Senator Schumer writing his spending bill even now. So, other than the cost, what metric are you looking at for this storm?

Just missing us ( yes I'm disappointed ) But this is one strong Blizzard! Ok I have been a closet peeker..... on the weather channels facebook page! I knew it would be good for a few laughs, they didn't disappoint. LOL

Hit the jackpot with this one, we got 34" where I live, with up to 40" reported in surrounding towns. Deformation "death band" set up right over central/southern CT, here in New Haven we got rocked with snowfall rates of 5"/hour, the most intense I've ever witnessed, and there are credible claims that top that. Amazing winter storm, that will likely set many records for a 24 hour snowfall. BTW, I doubt NYC will see a dime, they were on the outer edge of the system and have already shrugged off the effects. Not so for New Haven, Hartford, Boston, etc. which are all still virtually paralyzed. Reminds me a lot of '78, which remains the benchmark for most people around here even though we got more accumulation with this one. Lots of thundersnow, too, under that band... There were actually reports of hail, true hail mixed in with the snow under the most intense convection - you don't see that very often! They'll be studying this one for a long time.
