It's funny because TWC said they weren't going to be liberal with this process, that they were saving these names only for the most crippling of storms. Already 2 out of the bag in the first week of November? Shocking that they lied.

It's seriously the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen from TWC, and that's saying a lot. I don't watch TWC anymore because of this crap but I heard from a friend of mine that they were actually doing 24/7 coverage of the 6 inch snowstorm in the northeast. Really, they're now going round the clock for that? What a joke of an "organization".

Well, since "Athena" is impacting areas already struggling to recover from Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy -- including causing more power outages in some areas that are still trying to get the juice back on from Sandy -- I can kind of understand TWC pulling out more of the stops for it. But I do question why they've already trotted out "Brutus" for the next one. I don't believe blizzards in November in the northern Rockies/Plains are all that unprecedented or destructive.

I think its a bunch of bull crap to name some run of the mill snow storm or winter storm at that. What they need to do is wait until the storms start to produce a lot of major weather before giving them names.

It's a stupid gimmick made to draw attention to themselves. Thank goodness the NWS and other entities have decided against going along with this. My hope is it doesn't catch on with the general public or with internet publications, if that's the case maybe it will go away fairly quickly.

Gotta love the throw it up against the wall and see what sticks mentality.
