I'm going to be streaming with ChaserTV this year if they ever send me my activation code...its been over a week....anyways I wanted to know if there were any good webcams that I can use to stream with while chasing that won't make a huge dent in my wallet. Thanks!

Brandon:
ChaserTV does not currently have any indication that you have purchased an account with our company. We show that you have created a user account and we appreciate your choosing CTV. If you would like to sign up to stream, please navigate to HERE and choose an account type. Once we receive word from PayPal that your payment has been made, Scott or myself will create your account. This takes less than 24 hours from your payment.

We invite you to utilize any of the tech support phone numbers on the site and/or the support email, or perhaps even the CTV help desk to communicate with Scott or myself. I'm unsure why these options were not explored prior to making mention on ST. I suppose this is the norm these days.

I personally recommend the Microsoft LifeCam for a streaming webcam: Amazon

Hey Steve,
I sent in a request with my email ([email protected]) and it never sent me an activation email to get my account activated, I haven't bought the account yet, I was waiting for my activation link to be sent so I can activate my free account to get the stream.

ok then apparently my account is activated :D sorry for the stupidity on my part

Also, I was told by a CTV streamer to wait because of the holidays it might not have been activated so soon.

The free accounts are created automatically so you're good to go there. Now when you go to purchase an account, it can take up to one business day to activate. For example, it's 4:45 CST right now so chances are if you submit an account for creation right now, it will be tomorrow before it's created. There is a lot of human interaction with the equipment to build streaming accounts.

As for the holidays, we did build new accounts and handle trouble tickets throughout the holidays but standard email is being read and returned today and tomorrow.

The Logitech Orbit webcams have really crappy video quality. I use to own three of them. I have since replaced them with Microsoft Lifecam Cinema HD webcams. These cams are awesome. Very good picture resolution and they can do 720p HD video and have wide angle lens. Most stores have them on sale as low as $40 since MS recently came out with a newer Lifecam HD webcam.

I've owned the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 since 2009, and it's a stellar camera, but I think the Microsoft LifeCam is more inconspicuous and produces slightly better video quality. I'll probably be switching to the Microsoft camera this coming season due to concerns over video equipment being mounted in a manner that may net a citation in some states, which given the current configuration with my Logitech, is a problem.

Another vote for the Logitech Pro9000. It is a great camera with good video quality. I think I picked mine up on Ebay for about $60.

Although not for streaming, I use a a Lifecam that shoots 1080p HD. Use it for one of the in car recording cameras.

Its a Microsoft Lifecam Studio

Another option would be to use a camcorder with "usb streaming" so you can use it as a webcam. This year I will be using an old Sony Hi8 Handycam that I picked up from a thrift store (of all places) for $50. Its pretty simple to do, connect the camcorder to your computer using usb chord and then run 'Webcam Max' to capture the video and Microsoft Expression Encoder (for example) to encode the video and to stream it.

The main benefit of using a camcorder is it will allow you to zoom in on things and also webcams tend to be made for indoor use (so they may struggle with certain lighting conditions though I'm sure the ones mentioned in this thread work great)...just thought I would mention a webcam isn't your only option :)
