Tropical Storm Erika

Good day all,

That sure does look like a naked LLC west of all the action that had everyone excited overnight.

Even if it does survive, and moves WNW ... Is anyone looking at the 500 MB progs for the US East Coast? I see troughs, again (aka: Recurve out to sea and stir up a few fishes).

2009 ... Continues to disappoint, remember?

We all SHOULD be in the Pacific this year (sigh) ;-(

Data is already pouring in as they fly through. So far it looks like sustained winds are at 40mph with higher gusts. I believe that meets the Tropical Storm requirements?

Good day all,

I am sure that the 5 PM EDT NHC update will grant the Atlantic Basin TS Erika, finally.

The Atlantic basin is on the scoreboard once more...

Yay for new waves!!!!....the tropical season may yet wait for my return. Gotta love being able to go skiing one week and possible chase a tropical season the next. Man...I need to play the lottery more...:D

Good day all,

Yay for new waves...

Yes ... Yay for new waves.

Bowah-wah-wah ... For seeing them develop and recurve out to sea.

As for Erika - Quite frankly, it looks like sh--.

The storm is wekening and down to 40 MPH because of the shear. I would pretty much write this one off because it is only going to encounter a trough and more shear.

I am not paying any attention to anything in the Atlantic anymore this year (unless something is 50 miles east of Miami and moving W at 15).

Sound familiar: NHC (11 AM) ... MOST OF THE GLOBAL MODELS DO
NOT SHOW MUCH RELAXATION OF THIS SHEAR...AND ACTUALLY SHOW IT
INCREASING SIGNIFICANTLY IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.

"INCREASING SIGNIFICANTLY" - Grab my cr--tch and say "lovely".

Jason ... Have a good trip - You won't miss much.

I'm going to stick my head in here once again. According to visible satellite the COC went through Guadeloupe and is now in the Caribbean Sea located at 15.9N -61.2W at 1945Z. If the southwesterly shear everyone has been talking about doesn't dig too far south, then Erika will actually have time to reorganize. Don't give up hope yet Chris. :)
