Gents,
I guess this message will be directed to the physics buffs in here. I have a question regarding the Carnot cycle and tropical cyclones. Could someone explain to me problem that the Carnot model has with the heat fluxes during the adiabatic legs of the cycle. Also how do theses fluxes modify the cycle and the effect they have on the heat and work produced/released between the parcel and environment. Also what other dynamic processes contribute to the rapid decrease in intensity on landfall excluding the obvious loss of surface latent heat flux. Another thing, I need to know how to generate a graph showing the tangential wind profile of a tropical cyclone pertaining to the TC behaving as a modified Rankine vortex.
