Storms of 2008?

The Storms of series still has a myspace page. Mickey, let me know when the preview is complete so I can put it up on there and change everything to fit "The Storms of 2008." (Like a cover for the DVD, etc) And so I can also make announcements for orders, website address, etc.

Hey Dick, are you and Darin planning on setting up a table again this year a the DCEM event in March? I know your attending, but did not ever ask you if you had a booth going yet or not. If so, awesome, if not Dan and I will have a table set up for The Storm Report again this year and would be happy to offer the DVD's there.

I'm not sure really...I'll have to get with Darin first and then Wayne. I'd like to, just as long as that day isn't an outbreak somewhere. :D

Cool, well let me know if you guys don't and I will get with Mickey Ptak on offering the Storms of 2008 DVD there. The last speaker should be done by noon so even if it was a good severe weather day, we should still be able to make it to the target area in time, unless it is a southern plains set-up where Oklahoma and/or Texas would be under the gun!

Looks like an age rule needs to be implicated on this project in the future; it's unfortunate that "one bad apple ruins it for the rest", but I think it's obvious (from this situation) what a disaster putting a project as significant as this in the hands of a teenager can be.

Let's clarify that statement some so there are no misconceptions. Tony is and was a legal adult in the view of the law so it is important to note that this is not a 14 year old that took this over otherwise I couldn't / wouldn't have let him take it over for legal reasons.

In his defense, regardless of the outcome or current creditably, he was the only person that stepped up to the plate to take this year's project over otherwise it would not have happened at all. More importantly though, when I spoke with Tony about taking it over four to five months ago he sounded like a passionate, goal oriented person that would be able to see this thru. The bottom line, as the previous leader, it was my call and I take the responsibly for what has happened.

I am not sure what happed with Tony and at this point it does not matter because I do not hold any animosity towards Tony. The important things is that it has been taken care of thanks to Johnathon, whom I might add deserves the credit for the project not dieing in the water and he will also head next years project as well.

Also, due to the weather here in OKlahoma the shippment of the DVDs have been delayed.

I wasn't blaming anyone except Tony. Being regarded as a responsible adult works both ways, be it praise and opportunity or dropping the ball and letting people down.

I'll end my comments on this project now.

I know you were not blaming anyone but Tony. I just wanted to make it clear to everyoone that he was of legal age. You know your comments are always welcome.

I don't have any personal experience with producing these excellent videos, but it seems like there must be a better way than to place most of the responsibility on one person. Perhaps a group of people (3 max) would be best so that one individual won't have to take all the heat in the case that something goes wrong. I understand there are many many people who have devoted their personal time to this project as both contributors and chapter producers. I don't mean to detract from your work and I know how much time goes into video editing having contributed video for several of the chapters myself. I just think placing the entire success of the project on one person is asking for trouble. By the way Mickey, thanks for stepping in and taking time that you don't really even have to make sure that this project is fruitful.

The entire project is about how we work together as a community. There has to be someone steering the ship Marc:) I am proud to have been able to assist Mic in completing it for the 2008 chase year.

As it stands now, this type of collaboration is really nice to see. I work on similar projects all the time in my business and trust me when I say this that there are others that contain paying vendors and companies and they can be much worse! Give me a choice, I would produce storm related projects all day long. I have looked at my review copy of SO2008 a number of times and it really is good-not only showing the WX events but the passion of the people who chase them. We bring together a diverse group of people ie: regions, ages, chasing styles, professions, etc...the SO project shows the public what we stand for and our willingness to give back. I am gald to take over the project for 2009.

I hope to meet a lot of you at ChaserCon and work on building up a great group of people for the SO2009 project.

Either my PC is retarded or I am...but when I click the Buy the DVD button the website just refreshes itself and no order form pops up, none of the other links work...is this happening for anyone else?

I was in the middle of doing some work on the website tonight so it's been a little choppy but you should see the link to buy on the upper left hand side of the home page. The rest of the links will be active within the next few days.
