• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Sprint Card Issues?

Anybody else having these issues, or is it just me?:

My Sprint Card (Sierra Wireless 595U) will say that it is connected to the network but then I am not able to pull up any internet sites or get GRL3 to update. I would have to disconnect and then reconnect and then it would work again for a little and then the cycle repeats itself. I caught myself doing this at least 50 times between Thursday and Friday out in western Kansas. So much so that I wasn't able to stream video at all during the two days. Any ideas, or is it just me?

You were on the go , so obviously connecting to different towers , so we can rule a tower issue . I would contact Sprint and take out a trouble ticket on the actual device. Also check out the sprint forums at www.dslreports.com and see if anyone else was reporting the same issues.

Perhaps it's just a coincidence but mine dropped out last night during the Ellis tornado several times. I had been getting great service and then it just "went South."

This morning I had some issues but now it seems fine again.

RE: data card issues

Make sure any firewalls (Windows, Norton, etc) have exceptions enabled for the device to access the internet. The data card regularly "calls home to mommy" for updates and for other reasons, and when it can't access the internet, it hangs or otherwise acts weird. Assuming you have a strong signal, the firewall issue can give the symptoms you are seeing.

We've has issues too in W KS with losing data connections for quite a while, and a hard reconnect sometimes fixes it. Ironicially, near I-70 is the worst, and once we get off of that things are better.

Edit: Chased largely the same area on Sunday in KS and had stellar data.

As other have mentioned, I have had the same problems with my Pantech 500 card and I even tried my backup 595U. Its seems to be a service issue as both of the cards have the same problem. I was having the same problem April 24 and also on Friday. I was lucky to have radar let alone try to stream anything.

I had the exact same problems with my 595U card on Thursday and Friday in Kansas. I chased yesterday in NW Oklahoma and didn't have one single problem with it not updating. Not sure what the problem was in KS.

From what I have been reading here . I think it is safe to say it was an issue with thier network in Kansas. Cards don't all act up at the same time

With so many chasers out there clustered into one area, it's undoubtedly affecting the towers. If you have >20 chasers pulling data from one tower, there will be a performance hit. Another reason to not join the hundreds of cars in one area!
