Skywarn Recognition Day 2010

I'd love to jump on invites to the Denver and Pueblo offices to operate, but I'll likely be on the eastern plains for the weekend. If so, I'll take some HF gear along to the farm. I've made at least 10 contacts each year since the event started. It's really a fun event, and without the pressure of your typical Field Day. Besides, if I'm going to collect some QSL cards I'd just as soon they have pictures of weather on them :)

EDIT: Andrew, I didn't even pay attention to your location. I spent a couple years working at Ferris State in Big Rapids, MI. Both years I went down to operate from the Grand Rapids office for the event with some of our local Skywarn folks......WX8GRR.

Turns out I'll be taking them up on the invitation to operate from the Boulder/Denver office on Saturday. I believe we'll be operating from the call WX0DEN, keep an ear out for us! I'll try to make some contacts from home tomorrow evening as well.

Well, when I got to the Boulder office we found out they were having antenna issues, and being 90 miles from home I wasn't in much of a position to run home for some spare gear. We spent some time visiting with the crew on shift, and then abandoned ship making some contacts from another ham's house.

I was able to work a few stations from home last night, but the 40m band was NOT cooperating much at all. Pretty slow event for me compared to previous years, but fun none the less.

40m was open fairly well last night, got several contacts there, then on the local repeaters as well as on Echolink.

For third year, I was also hunting for QSO's - it does not happen often that NWS is looking for QSO's during the offseason - I was on Echolink from 07:30 UTC to all the way to the end, worked 30 weather offices(including the NHC), a personal record for me.
