• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Site related problems with Mac OS X

Just got a new MacBook Pro a couple of days ago and I am having a strange issue with the site and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced it. When I visit the home page and login, it forwards me to the screen that thanks me for logging in then returns me to the home page but I am not logged in. That said, if I click on a link to the forums I am logged in and it works fine. If I go back to the home page I am still apparently not showing up as logged in. I have the same problem with Safari, Chrome, and FireFox. I have checked all the cookie settings I could think of and searched here and on google but haven't found an answer just yet.

Anyone else notice this? Any idea how I might fix it? For the record I am on OS X 10.6.2.

Thanks,

Casey

That happens to me too. I don't understand why that is a problem. Why do you need to be logged in on that page?

BTW, I'm using a mac too on safari.

If you are not logged into that page several options are not available on the menu including search. The Bar & Grill recent posts do not show up. You do not get a notifier that you have a new PM. But Skip's answer fixed it for me, the 'www' before 'stormtrack.org' in the URL fixed it for me.

OK. I see now. I usually ignore that page and go straight to forums. But it's good to know that information. Thanks!

For Mac OS X users ... sometimes cleaning out your Safari cache (go to Safari menu, Safari -> Empty Cache) will solve browsing problems. Also, Finder menu -> Go -> Utilities -> Disk Utility -> Repair Disk Permissions can solve quite a few major OS X problems. You may have to use the original OS install disk to be able to carry out "Repair Disk Permissions", however, which is more "vigorous" than the old "Rebuild Desktop" under OS 9 and older versions of the Mac OS previous to OS X.
