• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Was going through some older pictures and came across some good examples of RFD cutting into some updrafts. These were taken May 11th, 2006 in SW Iowa. This was the day most people were chasing the beast that was in SE NE.

Here is a shallow, rotating wall cloud with some scud rising into the center of it...

4 minutes later you see an RFD slicing into the updraft...

Here's the same updraft area near Audubon from a different angle. Nice pics Doug...this was quite the supercell as it drifted along north of I-80 on 5/10/05.

lol - was on this one too ... reading this thread, you'd think more people ended up on this storm than in Grand Island that day. The RFD kicked up some serious dust that evening. Cool photos -

We were on the Grand Island storm, and I clearly remember when I showed Steve, Randy and JB the sw IA storm on radar. I think Randy's quote was "Awww ****". We half figured we were missing the best storm of the day(this was as the GI storm was just getting going). Then of course there were all the sheriff-nado reports coming out of something sw of the GI storm. We figured we were missing something there too, all while the big machine unfolded before us.

All nice RFD pictures!! Did that storm go on to produce any tornadoes? By far the most impressive RFD I have ever witnessed was just this past year on the Tulia storm. The storm went from just your normal big rotating Meso to a nasty quickly spinning grungy wall cloud with torando in a matter of a couple minutes, it was nearly jaw dropping to sit there and have it unfold right in front of us.

I put up a pretty short but interesting video on youtube of the RFD in progress, RFD fans should enjoy.

Great vid Dustin! That's what an RFD is definitely all about! :) How fast was the timelapse for the video on average?
