Resigning from StormTrack

Wow. I think everyone else has pretty much taken care of anything I would have wanted to say (especially --> Mike Peregrine's post <-- ), but I still feel like I need to add something on a personal level, even though we've never met. I have appreciated your quick, courteous and useful responses to any question I have ever had, whether it was related to this site or not. You always replied as though you were talking to a friend, but that's probably only because we're "connected to" sister Raycom stations... which I would not have known if you hadn't PMed me to say so! ;) I look forward to more threads like THIS ONE from you in the future, whenever you feel the need to help out. :D - Thanks, David!

Moderators get to do lots of fun stuff ... like move posts around, notify people when they've violated the TOS, then listen to them complain about the stupid TOS, then listen to them go back to complaining that we need more TOS, then write in their blog that the forum and its moderators suck big time, then leave and never come back, or leave and come back to stir things up again later, then process 20 new memberships that have been waiting forever and telling everyone and their brother about it, then you get to mentor those 20 new members in learning the etiquette of posting, and finally you get to try and make meaningful contributions of your own here and there.

I think that sums it all up very well.

David,

From one server admin to another, I know how thankless it can be. Running a popular message board from a technical standpoint isn't always the easiest thing to do. I'm glad you made the decision that'd make you happiest.

Irreplaceable

David, you have done a fantastic job here. It will probably take more than a single person to fill your shoes, but you can never really be replaced. Don't be a stranger. Stormtrack is definitely a better board due to your countless, thankless hours and attention. I know it was a labor of love, but you are certainly due a nice long break. We'll miss your work, as you will probably miss it some yourself, but do enjoy your newfound time and energy freedom. You've more than earned it.

Hope to meet you in person some time out there in the great wide open! :)

I agree with everything that's been said. David, you did a great service to this forum, and it is very much appreciated. Thanks for all that you have done.

Thank you for all the hard work and hours spent helping us and others here on Storm Track. Good luck and we hope to still hear from you from time to time. Thanks again.

Wow, just caught this thread out of the corner of my eye!

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to the board David; you've been a model for other board admins/moderators to follow.

In another note I really hope to continue seeing you posting here; your postings have always been very informative and entertaining.

Best wishes!

David, thanks for all of the time and effort you have put into this site and thanks for approving me as a member. This is my first post, but I have heard only good things about you from my chase partner (Linda Kitchen). Best wishes for the future.

Excellent handling of everything with this site--prompt replies and all sorts of helpful input. Hope the resignation leads to some restful period next.

David,

You've done a great on this forum and you will be missed in the technical admin capacity but I look forward to your continued contributions as a storm chaser. Thanks for your quick replies!

Belinda

David,

I've only been a member since last year. But, in that time, your wisdom and support have helped me immensely--both as moderator here and as a fellow chaser. The best of luck to you and just remember that when it starts getting to be "work", it's time to move on...

David,
your steady hand at managing this site will definitely be missed. You've pulled ST through an incredible explosion of members, and lead the way in many respects to a new way of doing things. Having been involved in the management of various websites over the years, I understand the slow drain they take on your time, and your need to change gears is completely understandable. I hope that you are able to remain a consistent contributor to the discussion group as I've always considered your opinions valid and helpful. Thanks for all your hard work on our behalf!!

Scott
