While doing some mobile spotting on my lunch break today, I received a phone call from the US Air Force. The caller identified himself as the person responsible for the weather in my area. He said he had been following me on Storm Track (not sure what he meant by that, or of he meant spotter network). He asked for a very specific storm report (hail between 0.50" - 0.75"). It seemed reasonable enough, given that there are 5 military bases in my town, 3 of them air force. I gave him the information he was looking for and he hung up.
Has anybody else ever received a phone call from the military asking for a storm report while you were chasing or spotting?
I record all of my phone calls, and I'll try to get the call posted here when I get back to a computer.
