Radio NHCWX Special Show Tonight

michaelwmoss

As most of you know Senator Rick Santorum has introduced Senate Bill 786 this will dramatically change the way everyone will receive weather data. A lot of people think this bill will never pass, but I have heard from some reliable sources that this bill will be attached to other legistlation and that will increase its chances of passing and since Senator Santorum is a republican and since the Republicans control the Senate and House this also increases the chances of this bill making its way through the back door after midnight. Radio NHCWX opposes this bill and will voice our opinions until the last vote is counted.

This Thursday starting at 8pm EDT Radio NHCWX will host a special show dedicated to Senate Bill 786 and of course the Tropics. This will be a very important show and we hope we can get as much interaction as we can.We are scheduled to be advertised on many national radio networks and we are heavily advertising with banner ads and google ads.

This show was scheduled earlier but Hurricane Dennis caused us to postpone it. We are rescheduling guests as we speak.

Also we want to present every U.S senator and U.S. congressman with an audio petition. To do this we have opened the toll-free number 800-580-4794 so you can leave a 2 minute voice message with your thoughts onSenate Bill 786 . Please call no matter what your position is on this bill. When you call follow this format:

#1 State your position on Senate Bill 786 I oppose or I approve
#2 First Name
#3 State/Region
#4 Leave message

We will make all messages into an mp3 and some of the best will be played on Thursday Night's show. Also the staff of Radio NHCWX will select the 2 best and we will draw 2 sets numbers (determined by call in order) These 4 winners will receive a t-shirt and a hat from Radio NHCWX.

This show will be sponsored by Americans for Fair Tax

Hope everyone will voice the opinions and please stop by and take a listen and help support this cause.

All are welcome to join the discussion in TeamSpeak or listen in with the various audio players.

Cool Scott!! We do have a guest on there now but keep on trying. The call is almost over!! Thanks bro!!

Scott Just played your message over the air. Feel free to contact us again and continue those awesome points that you made!!

I think it is wonderful that you are expressing your opinion -- it is the American Way.

But I strongly take issue with the statement that if the Bill passes, "this will dramatically change the way everyone will receive weather data."

The Bill does the following: It returns Federal policy to the one that existed from 1991-2003 (are you saying you couldn't get weather information from the NWS during those years?!); it would make the NWS hit the "send" button before giving press interviews (no more preferential treatment to certain media outlets); and it would make the NWS release 100% of their data in real time (no more withholding data while they organize press conferences).

I have previously posted the text of the bill elsewhere on Stormtrack.

Mike thank you very much for your opinion. We have a pro-met on the show right at this point talking about that very point. You are free to call and/or leave a message expressing your views on this if you like as well.

Same to anyone else out there reading this as well. Thank you all very much!! This has been an awesome, and needed, program!!

We will continue this discussion over a few more shows most likely.

Of course you do you own a weather comapny. :D

It does even more than that read the text of the bill.

it would make the NWS hit the "send" button before giving press interviews (no more preferential treatment to certain media outlets);

Hit the send button on what exactly? The actual legal anaylsis of this bill indicated that that the NWS would not be allowed to give interviews AT ALL! Thats right no more Max Mayfield telling you the dangers of an approaching Hurricane.

This show was a huge success. We will definatley be continuing this discussion over several more shows. We even had Jason Kelley from Panama City Florida call in (He was the Meteorologist on camera during Ivan and the Tornado went right by the station and he stayed on the air!!)
