• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hey all,
has anyone been having trouble loading data from PSU bufkit page?

I have tried several sites in the NAM runs and every time I always get Denvers data, I have been looking at the southern states today, but I can't look anthing up when I am just getting Denver.

Just wanted to know if it was a problem with there site, or my connection.

Thanks

I downloaded the KAMA site today with no problem at all. Seems kind of weird that you get Denver's data when downloading sties from the southern states.

I've never been able to make the PSU site work, Dave. You've got to use Bufget for that, and I've never figured out how to make it work, not that I haven't tried my darndest.

When I want to use Bufkit, I go to to data sources other than PSU--i.e. Grand Rapids, Northern Indiana, Chicago, etc.--and download their current Bufkit codes. That's not the most convenient approach, which is why I don't use Bufkit that much. It's a great program and I love what it does, but I haven't found it to be very quick or easy to use. I guess I'm spoiled--I like to be able to just point and click. :)

I have used Bufget for some time now. You have to make sure you have Tcl installed on your computer in order to get it to work. Once you have the program running you have to input the full URLs for the site that has the Bufkit Data you are looking for. So if you are trying to get the NAM sounding for Albany you would put:

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/buf/bufkit/profiles/namm_kalb.buf

into the Bufget program. This is really handy if you want to download several sites at once and do not want to have to right click and save for each site.

I have mine set up to a point where I click on the data point, and it downloads into a temp folder, and automatically opens Bufkit.
Doing this way eliminates the Bufget program, and I can get data from specific points, not all over.

I am looking today, and all the data points are loading perfectly, it might be my internet conection, then again, who knows.
