The logic of the article seems a little flawed... Suppose we had a nice west-coast trough right now... That would be like saying that we're going to see a very active tornado season if the trough stays in place through the next 3-4 months. Granted, the time scale of a longwave trough is on the order of a few days or a week, while the Bermuda High is longer, it still seems odd to say that the position of the High now my be an indicator of where it will be in 6 months...

I feel the same way.

But, I see the points of both articles, and I'm really happy that they put in the dudes comment that there are so many things that have to be just perfect for anything to happen, and even if one thing is still there, that doesn't mean something else is going to be there too.
