• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Oklahoma Weather Tracking Licensure Legislation

What this public process--the opposition and debates--has achieved is to strip away all of the fluff.

This is not about research, nor about public safety. David Payne doesn't like all the chasers on the road getting in his way and he wants to get his reporters past them to get the ratings.

Maybe he should do a better job of forecasting so his chasers are at the front, not the back, of the line of vehicles.

The OK legislature has shit for brains -- or at least most of them. It's a wonder that state can function. Although it was mentioned multiple times that DPS and DOT were rejecting the bill, not a single genius among the group asked "why." The same clowns failed to ask anyone about the mechanics of "how the TV crews were going to cut through traffic." Not one. There was no mention of allowing civilian vehicles to run code-3, terrorizing the people of Oklahoma. I truly hope they (the state and Channel 9) get sued into bankruptcy if and when a news crew kills a family fleeing a storm.

Crazy, I posted a long and detailed explanation on Fb and encouraged folks to contact their state rep/senators, I got ONE reaction in 4 hours. Now granted, I do not have a ton of followers (numbers in the hundreds), and most of my posts are sarcastic, but when I post a **SERIOUS WEATHER POST** (that is how I headline a serious post), I get many more reactions. Algorithms must have got me...

I just re-watched the video from the House Committee, because I checked the status of HR2426 and the bill is not listed as having its title struck.

In the video, Fetgatter said he would be striking title on the floor of the House when it comes to a vote, because it is not permitted to strike title in (a House) committee. He did NOT say that the title has already been struck.

The Senate Rules are different, and Mann's SB158 had its title struck in Committee.

So if he declines to follow-through, I'm not sure what that means. Is this a head-fake to get the bill past the committee and to the floor where, having been passed by two committees, it probably will not encounter much resistance? I don't know.

Says state agencies have come to only one meeting and haven’t helped him on the bill
He says LFOs have concerns
Fire fighters say they trust him and are neutralN
Sheriffs’ association will go neutral
OACP chiefs are neutral on the bill and may support it

This blows the mind. Neutral? As much as LE complains about chasers, you want to give some of them special privileges to break the law?

Neutral?

How about an enterprising reporter in OK (I assume some exist) contact these agencies? "Are you really OK with this bill?" "If so, why?" "If not, have you expressed your opposition? Do you plan to do so?" Anybody have back channels to these agencies? Get some idea about how to prod them?

Has Channel Nine's sister station in Tulsa, KOTV, weighed in on this?

Fetgatter is a big time MAGA Rep. with ties to the police and fire unions. (Not criticizing his political affiliations). I have no doubt he made some kind of deal. There is no way LE wants to deal with more fools on the road running code-3.
