Welcome to Stormtrack Keith. I have a friend who was originally from Paducah, KY, who is now a full time caddy on the PGA Tour (pro golf). You may or may not know him, but his name is Fred Sanders. Here's a picture of him in the 2009 Masters Tournament:

I hope we didn't get off to a rough start last night in the logo contest thread, but in any event I wanted to welcome you to the forum and hope you get a chance to chase those supercells we all dream of the whole year long. Take care.

Thanks Mark.
I don't know Fred personally, but he looks familiar and I'm pretty sure I've seen him on the links at Paxton and KenLake years ago. I never was much on golfing, but I would go with friends often.
No worries about the logo contest thread. It was entertaining and there were some excellent ideas presented.
As for the supercells, they come early in these parts so I'm waiting for February and March and learning the roads of LA (Lower Alabama).
Thanks again.

Welcome to all the new members! Hope you all have a great Christmas. Chase season will be here before we know it!

Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays

It has been a tough year for many who have lost loved one's or been dealt setbacks by the economy.
Regardless of individual beliefs, it is the season to remember those that we have lost and to cherish time with family and friends. It's not about giving and getting, it is about sharing. Even if all we have to share is our love, that is enough to bring happiness.
Remember our troops, too. Many will not get to share this special time with their families and friends.

I don't think that I have ever met any of my friends here at STORMTRACK, but we all share a common interest in the weather that has brought us together here.
May the new year bring great structure, supercells, picturesque tornadoes over open fields and unpopulated areas, and safety and health for all who dance with Mother Nature!

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Hey

Just thought I would stop by and say hi as I just joined and what not. I am currently 22 and have been through and chased several Hurricanes and the mini-twisters that come with. Currently in Orlando, Fl. I do plan on making that trip to "Tornado Ally" at some point during this spring with a few friends and see what becomes of it. I've always been interested in the weather so I figured why not, it wouldn't be the first time chasing something.

Since I don't really know a whole lot about the climate and weather out in that part of the US (compared to how well I know Florida that is) I figured this would be a good place to start.

Other than weather, I enjoy NASCAR, scuba diving, motorcycle riding (2009 Yamaha) and just took the HAM radio test (still waiting on the call sign). I am currently employeed by Sprint/Nextel in the retention department as a manager and actually love the job with no intentions on leaving any time soon!

Thanks!
Chris

Bumping the New Users thread for those new members to more easily find it and encourage those who have not yet introduced themselves to hopefully do so.

In case you have joined in the past week or so, we also just changed the forum version and do have to work some bugs out.

Hi my name is David Watson. I don't think I have properly introduced myself. I've been a member for awhile now but wanted to give a more formal introduction. I'm 20 years old and was born and raised in Yukon, OK. I've been fascinated with severe weather since I was 5 years old and have chased since I was 9 years old. I joined the army in September of 2008 and has been deployed to Iraq one time. I would love for people to add me and to converse about severe weather. I'm currently stationed in Fort Lewis, WA. I'm married and have 1 little girl on the way. (Due date May 17th, YEEHAWW!!!) lol. I intend on trying to take leave sometime around may or so, so that I can storm chase again :) If anyone has questions, I have AIM and my number is 405-473-0952.

Just wanted to say Thank You David for your service to our country.

Hi everyone!
I've been on the list just over a week and had not yet taken the opportunity to introduce myself. I come from a fairly diverse background of electronics and telecommunications engineering which I enjoyed for 11 years. I elected to make a career change and earned my MS in Atmospheric Sciences and have been a full time meteorologist ever since. My thesis was on the measurements of three dimensional lightning and its comparison to the NLDN data. While I do enjoy a nice storm chase, I don't often get to participate as much as I'd like due to work schedules, but when the opportunity comes, I embrace it. Other hobbies include flying, amateur radio (specializing in the VHF, UHF, and microwave bands with a keen interest in radio propagation via vertical refractivity gradients), and travel. In addition, I am the author of the new Android application PYKL3 Radar with which I am having a great time writing. So, there's a little bit about me...

Best regards,
Joe Jurecka

Hey Joe, glad to have you on the site! Where in West Texas are you living?

EDIT: Nevermind...found a little information. Nice write ups on the TASC website.

I will be a moderator here in the next few days, once my term starts, so feel free to PM me if you need anything!

Hello, just joined the site. Thought I should introduce myself. I am a 15 year military weather guy (15 more years to go til retirement), currently the operations Chief for weather operations for a weather squadron in Ft. Lewis. I have worked 6 years severe, 4 years Arctic/winter weather, 4 years desert weather, and 2 years tropical weather. I would say severe weather is my favorite, being stationed at McConnell did it for me. Looking to provide some good thoughts and inputs to the site as well as meet some new friends. I also would like an opportunity to test out my SmartModel for winter and severe weather season, it is a project I have been working on for the last year or so. Again, it is a pleasure to be on this site.

Welcome. It's cool to get a little variety here at times. I believe there are a few others that share your military experience either in part or in the past. I believe even our owner/administrator had some years in the Air Force's met side.

Hello Everyone!
I am an amateur storm chaser who born n raised in Southern California just moved to Colorado this last summer! Ive had a great fascination with thunderstorms and severe weather since I was little, however being in Cali its very rare to really see any significant forms of severe weather! I did try and chase some High Desert thunderstorms that would arise during mid to late summer, It was fun but just didnt quench my thirst if you know what I mean. Now that I am just east of the rockies, I am ecstatic and very enthusiastic upon witnessing mother natures finest! 2011 Will be my first season! I cant wait! I will be attending NWS Spotter training this weekend and even though I dont have a Ham radio yet I think I will stay for the SKYWARN session as well! Im registered with Spotter Network and all weather related education I have learned on my own! I really wish I had the resources available to attend Oklahoma University and gain great knowledge and education in meteorology, but for now I guess I remain on my own! I have a beautiful wife and 3 kids, currently unemployed but still looking! Im always open to suggestions and comments and of course anything to further my education! Severe weather is and always has been in my blood, Hope to get my private pilots license someday too! I love to fly as I was raised next door to Van Nuys airport before moving to the high deserts of Cali. Thanks to all who created this wonderful site! and hope to participate as well as learn alot here maybe even make a few friends! Good luck to all, be safe and Happy Chasing! 2011 here we come! If anyone has any questions comments or suggestions please dont hesitate to contact me!
