• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

New SN Feed using "dots" instead of icons

Installed and I like it especially after that mess on the screen yesterday, however I would like to have another one that displays Names and/or call signs with the dots that I can switch to as needed.

There is another ICON that has shown up that I am not quite sure of. It looks like the front view of a camera or a hand held TV... HELP!

Once again thanks for your great work...

Great. This will allow me to see the spotter network feed again. There are so many chasers nowadays that there was too much noise over the radar. Thanks!

Brian,

I didn't want to mess this up either when I did mine, so I asked for some help also. The procedure is the same as installing other place files.

Go to 'windows' in the top bar and select 'placefile manager'. Then select the folder ICON in the upper left corner. You should have a blank place where you can paste this into it....

http://www.spotternetwork.org/feeds/grlevelx-dot.txt

click OK... now put a check mark in the far left box next to the new entry in the placefileOK manager and at that point, dots should have replaced the icons that were there previously.

If that doesn't work, PM me and we can check it out.

Are we talking about the icons such as the green and purple triangles for hail and TVS? What is better with dots than the symbols?

I guess I misunderstood what this was for.

Brian,

As you are aware, there are times when all of the diamonds representing the various chaser can become a nuisance when trying to view storm structure. Having the dots is simply a method of minimizing the space they cover on your screen. This doesn't affect the other symbols for hail, tvs, etc.

Probably the best way to see this would be to install this and if you didn't care for it, it is easy to remove.

Hi everybody, this is my first post.

Question. I've noticed with the new SN "dots" layout that the spotters are never shown as moving anymore. It always says we are stationary, even if we're not. Is this a glitch or something I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Today it looks like the dots got bigger which is nice. It looks like the Video folks have travel markers with headings but the dots do not.

Great job, it looks great.

Mike

Randall,

You are correct, I just missed them or was seeing stationary only folks for a while.

Still it looks great.
