That's great! I wonder where all the funding came from. Do you know when they'll come online?

Thanks for the update, Boris. Your updates are pretty much the only way I find out about ASOS/AWOS sites that I need to add to my reference files for my GRx METAR placefile scripts.

Jeff,

When I make a post like this, its means they have been already added to
NADIN and thus available on weather.noaa.gov and NOAAPort. Sometimes
there is a delay w/ NWSTG adding them on NOAAPort, but that is the
exception rather than the rule.

There are at least 530 AWOS sites in the U.S. currently that are operational,
but not yet available on NADIN and thus we do not see Metars on the
traditional data lines. It's all up to the owners of the AWOS units (state,
city, or privately owned) to want to pay for the NADIN hookup.

How do I find out about new sites? Most of the time it is after the fact. The new
sites just show up on the NOAAPort feed. I run a quick scan of the SAUS
Metar collectives daily at work and flag any new sites.

Boris

I'm not really familiar with, nor can I access, to my knowledge, NOAAport or anything like that. I was really asking about when those sites would show up on some common surface obs graphics sites such as the RAP site or MesoWest. I suppose that is up to the webmasters for those sites.

Oh, ok, You can access raw and decoded Metar data here though.

The second link has ploted sfc maps, but I am not sure how often the
lists they use are updated.
