• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

New mirrorless cameras

Anyone own one? Anyone going to use one this season? I am also curious what some of the camera experts here think about them as well. I know some of the new ones have APS-C sensors. Some even have CCDs though I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. I am sure they have a ways to go to catch up to the current DSLRs, but I am guessing mirrorless cameras are going to be the standard soon.

Here is a good article/review of these new cameras.

I have no experience with them but i figured it was just a matter of time. I'd be concerned about battery life. I enjoy having the option of using a viewfinder or Live view depending on the situation and my mood. I have a Canon 5d Mark II that I really appreciate for most of my photo work, and a backup Nikon S9100 for storm stills where rain may be a concern and for "carry-around in my pocket for emergencies use". Perhaps if my Canon somehow "died" I might consider them as a replacement.

true photography is becoming a dying art unfortunately. when I see 60fps coming from these 3rd gen camera's (and potentially higher fps in the future) it's now giving anyone with little or no comprehension of photography the ability to go out and capture "great" pictures, which means that the job market might become oversaturated with more "photographers" who think they can take a photo just because they have some fancy pancy high tech gizmo that is labeled a camera.

sad. one the best hobbies/past times in the world and it's on it's way to becoming extinct.

don't care to hear this news, but I'm sure eventually at some point I'll embrace it just as I have with every other piece of technology that evolves. guess I won't be buying too many more lenses, since the market value on dslr equipment is sure to drop through the floor.
